Standards for Permanent Credential

The standards listed below reflect the minimum requirements to work as an educational interpreter in this state.
- Pre-Service Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Skill Verification: RID Certification, EIPA 3.5
- Knowledge Verification: EIPA:WT for Permit by EIPA
- Renewal Timeline: Two Years
- Continuing Education: 36 hours every two years
- Additional Comments: PD requirement for 18 hours in skills and 18 hours in designated content areas

- Is a provisional credential available? Yes
- What is required for the provisional credential? EIPA Pre-Hire with “Hire with Caution” or better, application from school superintendent with documentation of the emergency need
- How long can one hold a provisional credential? 4 Years
