April 22, 2017 – Captioning in the Classroom
10:00 am – 11:30 am (Mountain Time)
Ever wonder what the difference is between CART, C-Print and TypeWell? Have you ever been stuck trying to help your classroom teacher turn on captions for a movie or an online video? This workshop will briefly cover a variety of topics relating to captioning in the classroom. An overview of various captioning services will be discussed including both real-time captioning and post-production captioning options. Participants will also receive additional resources on captioning to keep for future reference.
Stephanie Zito, M.S., NIC, works for the National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes (NDC) as a Technical Assistance Provider. Ms. Zito started her captioning career in 2010 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Accessibility Resource Center working as both a sign language interpreter and C-print captionist. She has spent the last several years at UMW providing both speech-to-text services on campus as well as post production captioning for media. Ms. Zito loves working with technology and educating others on how to utilize technology for advancing both personal and professional growth.
